"You're so easy to talk to, unlike my current cow."

"Someone Like You" (2001)

I love coming across random romantic comedies, it's exciting to see how film makers take on the challenge to spice-up the routine romantic comedy structure. This movie somewhat went against the typical romantic comedy in the fact it wasn't as simple as boy meets girl, boy asks girl out, boy falls for girl; that and some funny odd circumstances thrown in there. This is a messy love affair and shows the true vulnerability of a woman: one moment she is hating on men, the next moment she is utterly in love and defending men. Ashley Judd's character (Jane) brings to light the cow theory: a bull (male cow equivalent) will be put in a pen with a cow (female) and immediately wants to mate with her, but put that same cow in the pen the next day and the bull will not want her anymore.. he needs a new cow. Many modern women believe this theory today, that once you sleep with a guy he will go looking elsewhere. It's a hilarious, clever comparison to make.

This movie has a good message: that your judgement can blind you and that just because several men are the same doesn't mean all men are the same. The exact guy you never thought you'd want could be the guy you were meant to fall in love with.

Great line: Jane- "Man, She really did a number on you didn't she? Well, don't shit on my broken heart just because you converted to some warped brand of romantic atheism!"
